Now that the water has started down hill,is it possible to stop it?

1968 was the worst year during my lifetime. With the violence getting worse and worse, I remember thinking the country was going to blow up in the not too distant future. But crime and violence didn't continue to get worse. They actually got somewhat better. Somewhere in the subsequent decades I figured out that things ebb and flow. When they're flowing, you think you need an ark, that we're doomed, but then they ebb. Whatever you think is going down hill will most likely turn around, just like a pendulum, in due time. Yes, there are problems, but that doesn't mean that we're doomed. Water running down the hill is a less apt metaphor than a pendulum, sez she from the perspective of her dotage. <g>
