this is good news - China rules out sending troops to Iraq

BEIJING : China on Tuesday ruled out sending troops to Iraq, saying "there's no such possibility".

Foreign ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue sought to make a distinction between sending peacekeeping troops on United Nations-sponsored activities versus activities not sponsored by the UN.

"The Chinese side at the moment has no plans to send troops to Iraq. In the past, China has participated in UN peacekeeping activities, but has not participated in other international military activities," Zhang said.

"I think China has not considered sending troops to Iraq. There's no such possibility."
