I think that we all have to realize that despite the information technology of the internet and cable news all over the world, the disinformation received is just as strong as it has been throughout history. How else can one explain the difference in coverage of the same event by Al Jhezeera and Fox.

My point here is that things may not be quite as bad in Iraq as the critics (whose voices seem very strong now) claim and not as good as the administration wants us to believe.

Unfortunately, those who have claimed that there is some big goofy conspiracy theory afoot, e.g. US did it for oil or blackmailed by Sharon, etc., seem to want to exaggerate the problems. As someone recalled in the administration the other day, remembering when the tanks were "bogged down" in the sand storms, the military victory went on to be quick, decisive and even humane (as measured by historical standards). At the time of the sandstorms, the commentators and questions were very biting, as if the 2d coming of VietNam were at hand.

The healingiraq web site seemed to appear just as the new Rumsfeld propaganda effort began. The author Zeyad has been described by other Iraqi posters as sounding non-Iraqi, perhaps a Chalabi protege. Such posts should be considered like a VOA broadcast, part news, part spin.
