It does as a matter of fact smell perfectly right. From Bayer's point of view - in their desperate financial situation - hanging on to 300 mUSD worth of Millennium shares made little to no sense. Which they have now aptly demonstrated. The sale is a reflection of Bayer's circumstances, not Millennium's.

Why on earth would it ?
To find something 'dirty' in this is approaching 'X-Files' conspiracy mindset.

As per Bayer:
