A chacun son gout. I used to be a pacifist. I decided, though, that I could not stand by while evil occurred in order to remain pure, it only made me complicit to the evil, while feeding my own moral egotism. So I ceased to be a pacifist, and accepted that doing good can be a dirty business, and mistakes can be made. On the second part of your post, it is funny, I might have said much the same thing: rather than waiting for some mythical day when the world is a better place, we should actually work towards it. I do not think that the primary route of progress, for the near future, is through the reform of multilateral organizations or the proliferation of big treaties.........
