Kerry's mother was a FORBES. "Forbes" is his middle name. He was sent to the best private schools by the good graces of his mother's family. Obviously his mother, and later Kerry, are the black sheep of the Forbes family.

Kerry has been married twice. He married Julia Thorne in 1970. Thorne's family was wealthy and went back to the colonial times. She wore a dress at the wedding the Boston Globe reported that had been worn by an ancestor whose wedding was attended by George Washington and Alexander Hamilton. They were divorced in 1982.

Kerry married Theresa Heinz in 1995. She was the widow of Sen. John Heinz of Pennsylvania who died in a helicopter crash in 1991. Theresa Heinz inherited his "Ketchup" fortune.

It's true, Kerry never had family money or Poppy in the White House. And he has never taken special interest money. The reason he got the partly derisive nickname "Liveshot" was that the Republicans he was running against were so much better funded then he was that he had to grab all the free news coverage he could to compete.
