ZINC AND COLDS Do zinc lozenges work for a cold? The jury is still out on the dozen studies done since 1984. Half of studies suggest that zinc will shorten the duration of a common cold. The other half shows no benefit. One published study shows Zicam, a zinc-based nasal gel spray, reduces cold duration. The study was conducted by the company that makes Zicam. More independent studies are needed. In the meantime, the alternative health industry will continue to hawk the cure. . 216.239.41.104
