check again your history books, no one was sent to concentration camp for been christian. And pope never opposed hitler. In fact many catholic priests were punished by vatican for assisting jews or helping partisans. After the war many justified it by saying pope wanted church to be separated from the rest of the world. But that theory does not explain the fact that pope ordered his priests to assist nazi war criminals in escaping. having said that there were a lot of decent priests who went against instructions of rome and helped jews anyway.
