If the German's had just had radar detectors.
Not long after the introduction of H2S, they did. That let them dive in them- -usually. BUT they still had to charge their batteries. The Germans went back to an earlier invention- -the snorkel. BUT then snorkel was easy to spot with the new radar too. The Brits and Americans just switched from conventional bombs to depth charges and the Germans were dead center targets again.

Hitler did not want war with the allies or England.
Yeah. But he got it anyway. The Brits for centuries had had this thing about not letting any single power (other than themselves, of course :-) dominate the European continent. That included Germany. The Brit were either going to win or have to be defeated.

He was forced into it because they declared war on him when he invaded Poland, then again when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. Hitler's big beef was the advance of Communism which he viewed (as did much of the world) as a jewish plot. He wanted to defeat the USSR and did not want a 2 front war.
Yes. Hitler viewed Communisnm as the REAL enemy and the war with Britain as an undesirable side effect. Which changed nothing. He still had it.

One of the STUPIDEST things Hitler did was declare war on the US following Pearl Harbor. He was not required to do so under the defensive Tripartite Pact. He could have stayed out. Instead he acquired his 2nd most dangerous enemy. (The USSR was probably his most dangerous.)
