Very very true! That's why I try to hold my horses very much and be conservative to the hilt. Yep, I already missed a lot of upside in INTC and RTRSY this year, but I sleep better at night. :)

I agree with this too. If I had reached a retirement goal (or just personal net worth goal) that I am comfortable with, I would also remove a large chunk of money from the table or at least try to make a very conservative risk assessment. As with "ratcheting of expectations", this is very tough to do.
