"The rising trend in the SF relative to the Yen over the past three years -- a trend that appears to have just ended -- has been part and parcel of a larger trend that has favoured safety over growth. The recent breakdown in SF/Yen might therefore be a sign that the domination of safety over growth is about to come to an end, in which case we could be about to enter an extended (multi-year) period in which gold under-performs the industrial metals. As discussed over the past two weeks, a break below support by the gold/GYX ratio is needed to confirm this trend change (GYX is an industrial metals index). "

I like this newsletter a lot, good info on a lot of stuff beside just PM's.....JMO.

Note that underperforming gold does not mean gold is going to fall. He is suggesting that base metals are going to rise faster than gold.
