Respond to what?

Are you asking for my personal views?

I've stated them here many times before: Bush I's failure to continue the drive to Bagdad during Desert Storm, and remove Saddam was the greatest strategic failure of his administration - one we are still paying for.

It is not good strategy to wound a bear... then leave him alive in the woods.

It was also one of the most disgraceful Presidential performances I have ever witnessed... to call for the Shiites and Kurds to rise up in rebellion to Saddam - promise them US support - then stand aside while they were slaughtered.

The after-effect of those disasterous failures was 10 years of Iraqi decline, expensive international sanctions efforts... and the current imbroglio. Trillions wasted.

It is always more difficult to attempt to have a second bite at the apple....
