I was not thinking so much about rebalancing as buying Puts on DIA and QQQ at the appropriately psychological moment when complacency is high and VIX is low. The former is already high, and the latter is certainly low, but wait a few weeks and one can most likely do the put buying at a higher in-the-money strike level.
