see my commentary on following post

If you look at 1982 vs. today, there is little comparison.

Here are some differences

1. Recession ended 2 years ago
2. Volcker "tight money" vs. easy Al
3. Interest rates at all time lows today, they cannot be lowered
4. We are in the midst of the second bubble in 6 years and yet this time, no jobs
5. States broke, no revenues

The bottom line is that after two years of liquidity pumping, we are at the TOP of an economic cycle not a trough as in 82-84.

Surprise surprise!

But go on and vote for Bush, it should be quite a race. It might turn out to be young professionals (fervently against Bush) vs. older folks, or the west vs. the east. I suspect a very high turnout, there are a lot of angry people.
