It's just as bad as Vietnam, and now the terrorists are killing Iraqis too. They want to put the fear of god into the Iraqi people, not just the Americans. Yes they want the US out, and then to regain control of the Iraqi people and the wealth of the country. The same reason that we attacked Iraq. Secure the oil, for the Iraqi people, so they can sell the oil to Exxon-Mobil and make deals with them.

The IMF is in there assisting with loans too. After we get the infrastructure built up, they will probably be made to sell off the electricity and water utilities to a multi-national company as a condition of their loans, or part of the oil infrastructure. Then these multinationals will raise the price of water and electricity while forgoing maintenance of the systems to make big money. Same samo as Argentina and Bolivia.
