<And what good could possibly come from this?>

If Saddam and the Baathists are driven from Iraq, and there is some sort of Iraqi representative type government established, then that would be good.

While I don't think that anyone disagrees with the goal here, what most thinking people disagree with is the methodology. It's like trying to drive in a thumbtack with sledge hammer, and then forgetting to let go of the thumb tack.

And it appears that much harm will be done en route to the goal which is peace and freedom for everyone.

By failing to have a post war international plan ready to implement, Bush has taken two steps backward for every step forward. Heavy handed tactics were not needed. Then in the vacuum created by the hammer blows, rioting and looting ensued. Then as the borders were not secured, terrorists from every cloth have entered the country to further raise the body count.

I'm still hopeful that some good will eventually come out of this mess, but it's going to be a long and bloody road.
