The reason you have these big fires, and not little isolated ones, is the antipathy to proper forest management. Which includes timbering and building access roads. Instead, we've had a "hands off the Earth" policy which results in tinderboxes for forestlands and SuperSized forest fires. Not building access roads because you hope it will keep people away, which is contrary to the stewardship role of the federal government on national parklands, is silliness. Derek
