Look on the bright side kenny, all that good economic news that is causing ulsers for all the haters of President George W. Bush has some antidote. Some laughter and good fun is good for all.

Dennis Miller Lands Political Show on CNBC

Brainy comedian Dennis Miller will be host of a prime-time political talk show on CNBC.

Miller, who used to aim his wit at Republicans but now is so funny in his attacks on the likes of San Francisco Democrat Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean and Sen. Robert "KKK" Byrd that he unnerves the wimpier members of the GOP, will launch his program in January. It'll run four nights a week at 9 p.m. Eastern time.

MSNBC a year or two ago considered giving Miller a show but made the horrendous mistake of trying to disinter Phil Donahue instead. But now Jeff Zucker, president of NBC entertainment, figures the former "Saturday Night Live" star will be a hit.

"Having Dennis Miller return to the NBC family is one of the most exciting things to happen to us in years," he said.

Miller is intelligent and brings a unique perspective to issues, said CNBC President Pamela Thomas-Graham.

"Even if people don't agree with him, they'll find what he's saying interesting," she said. "Our audience isn't looking for someone to tell them how to think."

Miller described his career thusly: "I have the same approach I would use if I were crossing a prison yard late at night. I zigzag to stay ahead of everyone."

According to the Associated Press today, Republican strategists had talked of having Miller challenge left-wing U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., who according to opinion polls is not a shoo-in for re-election.
