Hi Brian,

First off thanks for maintaining the DD on this thread.

It appears they have rightsized the company to be profitable at lower revenues. IMPRESSIVE !!

Also note the recovery of profit from an inventory writedown.This means they've engineered their losses so strongly that they've now sold parts that were written off.

This practice is widespread with in the SCE sector.It has been done in previous cycles as well.

When a company is forced to show an inventory gain in Q4 - I think it shows how severely the writeoff have been made.

I suspect there is much more of this to come,and not just in Varian.

When these written off parts are sold - they're 100 % profit - makes for very nice margins - as in Varians case.

04 is going to rock !!
