I've never tried blackpowder. Did look at Sharp's Carbine replicas of the type Berdan's Sharpshooters from the Civil War employed. They were very expensive but the very best rifles available back then with something close to a cartridge. Even the replicas are really expensive. As far as not being prepared for the "boogeyman", the only reason you don't believe that crap is because you have been lucky so far as to not be a victim.....yet. Scout motto..Be Prepared.

Here is another tidbit that has essentially closed the gun show "loophole" at the Federal level. I had nearly forgotten about this one. BATF is very creative in nearly making their own laws. You are legally allowed mind you to sell firearms person to person and not through a dealer as long as there is no interstate transaction involved, i.e. the buyer does not reside in another state. There is one additional restriction. At some point you are in the "business" of firearms and have to have a FFL, but the law leaves it up to BATF to decide what a "business" is. By the way being in the "business" of selling firearms without a license is a 10 year prison term. You want to know how many firearms BATF will let you sell per year without declaring you in the "business"? Are you ready for this? FOUR. Thats right, you sell 4 firearms not through an FFL and they consider you to be making a full time business living at it. So in your truckload example and selling guns thru the newspaper, it won't take long for BATF to catch you dealing in firearms without a license.
