I did just go ahead and take a position in Teck Cominco as a play on zinc and China. Also on Canada. Thanks for the reassuring view of PTR. I have also put my sister's account into some PTR and while I know I have to take my own lumps I worry about dragging anyone else down with me.

PTR has done awfully well for me. I started buying in May of 2002 at just over 20, and kept adding as I found out more about it. Then as you say there's the dividend.

news driven patch rally? i have been looking for news that would give the oil patch this pop today, and i have not found a biggie other than Perhaps the rattling the russians/yukos is giving the patch bears and bulls lately. besides being either near support or actually having broken down from support most of the osx and xng stocks were ready to fall into a black hole or bounce up. yesterday the russian news was out, but it didn't put the fear of god in the osx buyers. what happened today (so far)?

Marc Faber is also calling for similar.. Sharp correction then more up... buy the big dips. Just sold CHN 36.10 the other day from 25.3?... 25% premium to NAV ... makes me think Russia is worth a go CEE and TFR are at a 9%+ discount.
