Bagging a bird at 100 meters would be a feat indeed. I'd be lucky to even see a bird at that range much less shoot it. You'd need a looong barreled shotgun too unless you like buckshot in your pheasant stew.

Hmmm maybe a small caliber rifle with a scope?

I did once kill a goose at 75 yards and that was incredible. 10 gauge 3 1/2 magnum shooting 2 1/4 ounces of lead T shot. Lead T was a gray area at the time. Swung out about 15' and 3' over and pulled the trigger.

OTOH I popped a goose in Maryland at 45 yards and the guide said "we don't take those long shots out here.".
