I was using an Ithaca 10 gauge auto. Recoil was more of a shove than a kick. Then again if you leaned too far back the shove could leave you laying down. The Browning I replaced it with had a warning not to shoot it if you weighed less than 150 pounds.

I didn't read AS's post as ignore has helped my blood pressure. There's a guy from here who has gone to England and shot ducks with a 4 gauge and 75 yards was still his max. When I was into reloading I did cook up some dove loads that went 1,800 fps. The patterns were so blown that hitting a bird was pure luck.
