Ted, I called Iraq an "easy target" only because of its cost, which no one considers cheap. It's easy to say politically that we shouldn't have gone into Iraq. It isn't as easy to say we shouldn't have enacted a $500B prescription drug benefit program, because you'll be branded as an evil sadist who only wants to make old grandpas and grannies suffer.

"Fiscal conservatism" has a cost that everyone feels free to talk about, but no one wants to be associated with. It's always easy to blame the other side for spending too much, especially on programs you never supported in the first place.
