Don, Re: IMO, "I changed my mind" doesn't look good on politicians. IMHO, I find myself in complete agreement with a retort from John Maynard Keynes when confronted by a taunter who accused the economist of waffling on some policy. Keynes reply? "When the facts are unclear, I keep an open mind. What do you do, sir?" To say that Howard Dean needs to abide by a policy conclusion he reached under differing circumstances a decade ago while in a different role strikes me as being ridiculously rigid and dogmatic. While this may be OK for the Pope, I hope you'll reconsider this bout of incipient reactionary rigor mortis. I offer this advice with my tongue, and hopefully not my foot, firmly inserted in cheek. ** I'll be sure not to mention how enthusiastic I am about Dean's candidacy on this thread. Actually, I really loved the logic that General Clark came up with on assault weapons. He feels, as I do, that they serve no legitimate purpose in civil society, and so he strongly encouraged anyone who lusted for the power of semi and fully automated murder tools to join the Army.
