what do the germans and french spend their deficit on? My guess would be human services and if you do that, not much shows up in GDP. If we payed welfare moms double the $650/month or whatever measly existance they get, not much would happen.

The difference here in the US is that Bush spent the money on war, infrastructure etc which is goods and services, these are all real GDP numbers but the problem is, the effect is artifical. I really think we need to see job growth in earnest. Usually recessions at this level have 300K jobs created a month. We had 300K jobs created monthly in the Clinton years all the time. We need to see that again.
