"For there to be a genuine recovery, it's got to happen in more than economic statistics," Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, Democrat of Connecticut, and a presidential candidate, said on Thursday in Buffalo. "It's got to happen in the lives of America's middle class and those working hard to get into it."

Do you disagree with this?

I really find it amazing that after 3 years of false starts, the right wingers on these threads are crowing like no tomorrow on this 7% GDP number.

7% GDP with 388K jobless claims? Helllooooo.... theres a problem here, and that is, that all along we have thought that *eventually* jobs would come when growth kicked in, in earnest. Well its here and still no jobs. Most of us in high tech could have told you that.

The only economy that matters is the one in 2004 for each individual. If jobs are created by the millions, all this "growth" (much of it debt and war spending) won't matter. Also, the stock market is way overdue for a correction and so is the real estate market.
