I've just started to read David McCullough's epic biography, "Truman". One thing that was perfectly clear in 1948, and will be perfectly clear in New Hampshire in early 2004, is that if Howard Dean wins it will be seen as a win for Howard Dean. Not for the runner-up. Chicago Tribune headlines and modern spin notwithstanding.
