Kerry isn't afraid of the NRA. He just took reporters hunting and bagged some pheasants. He's a Silver Star winner who shot and killed enemy during the war. The NRA never supports the Democrat anyway and new NRA types are going to be interested in Dean. If Kerry and Clark ran together, the military voters, past and present, would largely support them vs. Bush. Being against the proliferation of assault weapons is a WINNING issue. Being pro assault weapons is like being pro pollution. It's hard to defend.
