Our "celebration" of Halloween has turned into more of a celebration of life - the sado-masochistic life. Took the kids trick-or-treating. About 5 houses were playing recordings of people screaming. Really, what's up with that?

The idea of Halloween as an extended family celebration is rather nice. Of course, in Catholicism, one prays for the dead (in purgatory), and asks the dead to pray for one (assuming that they have made it to heaven). This is the elementary notion of the communion of saints...........
