I got lots of notes, all sour. Yes, the dismissal of the Iraqi army was a terrible mistake, as now almost everybody, including some pretty right wing guys, admit.

However, bringing it back now may be too late. Its loyalties would be a lot more suspect than six months ago. My fear is that the resistance in Iraq will acquire enough momentum to threaten our control. If the Iraqi population starts sensing US weakness, they will side with the resistance, no matter how much they loath Saddam -- Arabs love a winner. I hope we got a division or two ready for emergency deployment.

The handling of post-war Iraq has been an unmitigated disaster.
