I'm questioning whether your adoption of fundamentalists is as consistent with that as you seem to think it is.

Now, Karen, you know consistency is the "Hobgoblin of small minds." :>) My change in feeling toward them is the result of my dancing with a lot of their daughters all over the county during the last ten years. They are wonderful people. They have their beliefs, and they keep them to themselves unless challenged. They got very burnt in the 80s by trying political action and getting vilified for it. They pay their taxes and stay out of jail, which is a lot more than a some people do.

So I find myself defending them on this thread, even though I totally disagree with their metaphysics and epistemology.

And I am very happy to have them out there on the barricades defending our civilization from the Barbarians. And if they want to stop and pray while doing it, and believe that they are defending "Christian Americans" against "Godless Muslims" that's fine with me. (If you don't recognize these Muslim fanatics as "Barbarians," I suggest you take a closer look.)

Most of the people who are sneering at them will never be on the Barricades, that's for sure.
