A major attack against the US would solidify support for the fight against Islamic radicals.

This is exactly what happened after 9/11. But Bushy and his clonies blew that support when they attacked IRAQ under false pretenses. It's gone, every bit of it. Sure there are some 3rd world countries who are "supporting" the US stance in IRAQ but that "support" was bought and paid for with American tax dollars.
