Rumsfeld's argument was that the war could be won with 150,000 troops and he was right. But there needed to be a further force in place to run the country after V-day. All the study papers on the subject in Washington said as much. It was all a bunch of hokum for Rumsfeld, he couldn't see past just beating the Iraqi army. What else could there be, he thought, crush the Iraqi army and it's all blue skies moving forward. It's been my observation that american life is cheaper during a republican administration than democrat. Rumsfeld's "shoot'em up and win" mentality bears that out again.
