Too late for that. There would be chaos if we left. So I am told. (although i'm not sure how it would compare with the ongoing chaos)

This all sounds like 'mission creep' to me. First it's WMDs, then 'Saddam was a very, very bad man', and now it's 'we can't leave or the place would erupt in violence'. And our presence is helping? Seems those tribal differences in Iraq will play out if we leave next week or 5 years from now. (Unless we really aren't going to leave since we'll just stay around to keep the oil flowing. No, couldn't have anything to do with that...)
