There are many democrats that oppose abortion too. Your assignment of it to the left is not correct. Most abortions occur because the mother does not have the means to support the child. Do you think that people wake up and say, gee what a wonderful day for an abortion? Well you're wrong. It's an agonizing decision that takes into account every socio-political-spiritual-financial reason in the book. I'd say that there would be a lot less abortions if the mothers felt there was an alternative. Often her partner is either not there or is an abuser. Jobs, if she's lucky enough to have one, are hard to schedule into raising a baby. Welfare? Well welfare "as we know it" is no longer available to many. So as long as we have a cold oppressive society that does not support women with equal opportunity, equal pay and equal standing in the community. When they have no family support system, no father of the child, no financial support system, you can expect that they are going to have to choose abortion way more often. I'd say to you that conservative, macho, screw the women and leave em, attitudes in this country are responsible for most of the abortion decisions. When the society honors women and children, then abortion will fall into dishonor. Orca
