Not as "dire"?
Methinks you have a tendency to put a bit of a spin on your "strong" argument. How about a $400,000,000 surplus !!... That's about $800 per person and god knows how much per wage earner. Since we are so blessed why oh why would we import trouble? Natural gas or no there is zero revenues from state income tax which we have never had, yet seem to have gotten along nicely .

Hohoho. You'd have more credibility, elmat, if you weren't a citizen of a country - Brazil - that has historically, like clockwork, defaulted on its external debt once a decade. But of course, this is the IMF's fault, right?
