glenn,

The recent CBC program, "Conspiracy Theory" can be viewed via the Net:

I found that the information on the decades' old intertwining of the business interests of the Bush and Bin Laden families to be the most important new 'news' that the program illuminated. As Harry Truman famously quipped, "the only thing new in this world is the history you haven't read." (Apologies to Stephen Kinzer and his frontispiece in "All the Shah's Men".)

Re: Don't know exactly how it happened, but the U.S. political elites have suffered massive moral decay. Or perhaps it was always so bad, but just not as visible.

The elites know some things that the man on the street is just barely aware of. For one, the elites realize that demographics is destiny, and the Bilderbergers in America, the Business Roundtable and the political elite (an incestuous bunch in toto) realize that America's ascendancy in the world is soon to be in eclipse. Grabbing 11% of the world's remaining known oil reserves is an act not only of brassy aggression, but also a Maginot Line of defense against the collapse of the energy-saturated American economy. While the elites use the U.S. DOE to spread 'glad tidings', aka lies, about the remaining petroleum reserves on the planet, the U.S. military is acting in a determined and forceful way to assure itself of the prime position on sourcing of this vital and dwindling resource.

Have the elites suffered moral decay? Of course not. They've never had any morals to begin with.
