If you wanted to continue Sanctions fine. Just remember that hundreds of thousands died as a result of Sanctions, and much of the Arab world was blaming the United States and the UN for those deaths - not Saddam (even though Saddam was using Sanctions as a cover to commit genocide). Further, realize that UN Sanctions was a specific complaint (and one of the reasons given) when bin Laden declared Jihad against the United States - targeting Americans both military and civilian.
