MIR? Oh wait, that one already bit the dust. <g> If I find something interesting I'll mention it here, but I haven't been looking very hard the past few weeks. Every dog deserves some lazy days in the sun.

I'd like to see something significant shakeout before taking on more risk. What that looks like, I don't know. But I'll probably taste it when it happens. Or I hope so.

haier.com

Buried in a Japanese report on their trade accounts, is a table, which lists this company as the market leader in several chinese consumer products categories.

The gotcha? I don't know how to invest in it. Unless there is a CEF which holds it. Maybe something run by Templeton?

NGG. Big dog- undervalued relative to peers. UK exposure, maybe benefit from stronger sterling. Future US Transmission consolidation? Regulatory risk- regulators don't like blown fuses.

PSD- Lil' dog. Improving credit profile. EV/EBITDA=6.98 per yahoo, which makes it a bit relative undervalued given a peer target of 7.47. Would like a 22 or below entry, but nibbled today at 22.50 anyway. Patience is hard.

There's a preferred- psd_p. If called in '06 it yields roughly 5.44% to call. Given the credit rating, & AAA stuff with the same YTW, I went with the common. Upside on the common is about $24-25, so this isn't intended to be a home run. Rather a boring dividend clipper with some potential.

Some Triple AAA rated preferred shares recently put up for offer, going ex Dec 4th. Yield to Call is ~6% if I've done the calcs correctly, depending on your commission and lot size. These will suffer if long term interest rates rise.
