Therein lies the difference between the 2 situations. I would be nice if people kept that in mind. But that wont happen.

Yes, if the UN hadn't existed, the Arabs couldn't have gotten it to create UNWRA to house and feed the refugees in perpetuity - chiefly at US taxpayer expense, mind you. They would have had to feed them themselves, which would have made sure that they got resettled, just as the refugees of the India Partition got resettled. So the existence of the UN has made a major difference - for the worse.
