JDN, I am not slandering Bush but the simple fact is that he spent more than 500 billion in two years. Its an incredible figure and something I wouldn't have thought possible. If Reagan had taken us to record deficits in the late 80s after being in deficit for a time I would have said, ok. But in this case with Bush it is a marvel to behold, the pillaging of the treasury, from first with surpluses to worst. Can't really blame it on the "bubble" because tech companies who created the bubble are selling like crazy now and stocks are up there again, especially the internets. Its not 99 or anything but a lot like 96/97 for Clinton. There was 911 in the middle there so an excuse for some deficit spending but nothing like this imho.
