The single chip servo motor control is an excellent product. I was looking over to see if it was applicable to brushless DC motors, but it is only for AC servo drives. That still includes a good slew of applications, and to date there is no single chip interface that does not require complex programming (or use of a board module that puts most products out of their price range).

I think this chip will be a nice addition to their product line - and is an excellent example of their push to more proprietary products.

they now need to develop an easy to interface brushless DC motor control, with full acceleration, speed and absolute position encoding (Performance Motion Devices is the only company I know of that makes a product in that category).
