You seem to insinuate that JFK was a warmonger... Well, I'm currently reading Pr Dallek's thorough biography of Kennedy --I recommend you do the same.(*) JFK was a WWII hero and knew warfare firsthand... His PT109 (Patrol-torpedo) was sliced in two by a Japanese frigate in the South Pacific... Ever since WWII, JFK was dubious about military brass and never forgot their WWII blunders... Later, after being elected Prez, in 1961, JFK couldn't stand Pentagon hawks like Lemnitzer and Burke (the Boykin of the 1960s)... Therefore I concur with Pr Dallek, Mark Lane and others who claim that JFK did plan to pull out of Vietnam regardless of "victory".
