Republican Announces for Gephardt's Seat
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Filed at 3:37 p.m. ET

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Former state Rep. Zane Yates said Tuesday he will run for Rep. Dick Gephardt's congressional seat, looking to become the first Republican to hold the 3rd District post in more than a half century.

Gephardt is campaigning for the Democratic presidential nomination and isn't seeking re-election next year to the seat he's held since 1977. The GOP has not held the seat since 1949 and has represented the district for only 24 of the past 157 years.

Yates, 44, was elected to the Missouri House from a south St. Louis County district in 1990 and served three two-year terms before leaving to become a St. Louis County family court commissioner.

Five Democrats have announced their candidacy: state Rep. Joan Barry, state Sen. Steve Stoll, St. Louis Circuit Clerk Mariano Favazza, Washington University associate dean for student services Mark Smith, and state Rep. Russ Carnahan, son of the late Missouri Gov. Mel Carnahan and former Sen. Jean Carnahan.

I note that once again when confronted with the inaccuracy of your posts and sources you simply slink away without a response and then post the same stuff again somewhere else. I have confidence that the vast majority of readers of SI see through your act.
