Muzosi, he said "The more successful we are on the ground, the more these killers will react".

And in what context were those words spoken?

Tenchusatsu, I understand your original point but I think the context is fairly clear. In the past week, Bush has been working very hard to rally "the troops".........non military Americans. Even Rumsfeld has toned down his negative rhetoric. Their behavior is understandable but it does not mask the growing crisis in Iraq.

Bush has no real choice.....either quit Iraq, or keep cheerleading the fight. The problem is that its not working any more. He sounds defensive. His GOP colleagues are sounding defensive. Barbara Bush sounded defensive.

In the meantime, Americans are becoming increasingly defiant. This war does not make sense to a lot people esp. to those who have lost loved ones over there. Last nite, this one father said he had received an email just before his son, a career military, was killed in the recent helicopter crash.......essentially, the email said things were becoming more and more out of control over there. Multiply that email by thousands and you can imagine what a lot of Americans are thinking.
