The only thing that will really eliminate the fundamentalist ideas behind such attacks is what ended the grip the Church had on Europe till the end of the Middle Ages - scientific, social, and moral progress. Today only the democratic West offers this. That's the bottom line, really, and more than all the security measures we have today what protects us against attacks on our own soil. [ I'm not saying we don't need airport security or police forces, but the biggest factor by far is cultural. ] Well stated Dennis.. And such progress can only occur within a society that is not totalitarian. A society that respects individual human rights(men and women), personal property rights, and possesses an system of government accountable to its citizens. Iraq was the best choice for initiating this cultural change and providing an ideological alternative to the militant Islamo-Fascists. And why some of these jokers can't understand that literally amazes me. Hawk
