To: ralfph who wrote (5197 ) 11/5/2003 2:57:56 PM From: marcos Read Replies (2) | Respond to of 8273 That really was a great post - #reply-19462956 .... most of us have always kept freebies to an extent, the old 'sell half on a double' routine, or variations thereof ..... it was the '99-'00 period that soured me on this, somewhat, things like ven.to and jdx.to going nuts, and then tanking .... keeping a bunch of jdx/ite encouraged me to start buying back traders far too early, kind of knew that at the time but did it anyway, it was only luck later that i was able to trade out of the 'keepers' at around breakeven .... and now, its successor can be bought for far less .... so maybe there are times it makes sense to just pull the plug on certain stocks, it simplifies your life too, you can only watch so much ..... that being said, i've got a whole collection of keepers, some made sense and some didn't, and i sure didn't know ahead of time which was which, so russett is very right really jrhana is right too though, the big question is what to do with your laggards ... which is euphemism for 'losers', no doubt -g- .... jr and peter, welcome to Winter, good to see you here, i've enjoyed posts from both of you, learned stuff We got one of your famous mountain views at dawn, ralfph .... looking down over river, sea, timber, considerable sign of homo sapiens, even a black bear on the way back to the pickup .... male we figured, pretty well full grown but young, he sort of half stood up and sniffed at us, after six seconds or so seemed to find us boring, then ambled off, no fear, no aggression, not much for interest even, he sort of put us in our place Gold edging back up there .... this is the way of bull markets, slow bit by bit rise, then periodic sell-offs like on monday .... but what out there is not overbought, with PoG 415 priced into it already? .... rhetorical question, of course .... but don't listen to me, i'm the guy who three times this year [and once in 2001] left way too much on the table with ivn.to ..... mfl.to too, and several others ..... yeah russett is pretty right -g- iau.v - new 52-wk high today ... nobody ever talks about Intrepid .... or about Candente dnt.v anymore ... maybe it's better that way -g- .... well i plan to look at ano.u and ckg, time permitting, no panic on either imho but a person would want a reasonable position before mid-december ..... cheers
