That's the game. ******* There was a timid, ephemeral and half-hearted effort on the part of an emasculated outpost of our culture that decided to take a tentative step toward the truth. CBS decided that fifteen years after the fact, that some slight truths could be told about the real nature of the Reagan White House. These honest and decent men ran into the greatest and most awesome force the world has ever endured. That force is called the Repubican Party, and it is the Heart of Darkness, the Axis of Evil and the Evil Empire all rolled up into a convenient buy three and get one free ball of inequity. Myths, like Ronald Reagan, are inviolable to the superstitious, religious reactionaries who rule. They have no tolerance whatsoever for the truth. When it emerges, as it began to after the rulers' ruses began to unravel in the remains of 2001, they sent out the dogs of biowarfare into the halls of Congress. The anthrax attacks of late 2001 were specifically designed to destroy dissent. No more, no less. And the complete inability of the ruling reactionary radical in the Dept. of Injustice to find the perps? Why would he turn on his friends? They accomplished their goal. The Congress is complaisant, compliant and co-opted. Mission Accomplished. The CBS movie that showed even the slightest interest in telling a minor story of the horror descended upon this great nation during the usurpation of the magician/front man Reagan? Horror of horrors. The Republicans knew in their gut that this show touched a nerve. Every sentient American knows that Reagan was a phony, Bush is a phony and that we are being bamboozled by a bellicose, bombastic and bizarre bevy of buffoons. But anyone who want to strip the script off this tarted up, tortuous team of tawdry teasers is thrown to the tigers of the terpitude. Can America long survive? How long can a merely machismo myth of moralist and militarism morph into immorality? History is our judge. America has been a mythology of decency since 1948, when the first of our ever-expanding and bold excesses erupted on the southwestern frontier. We are 150 years into imperial expansion. We have crossed the threshold into deficit financing. We are, in essence, bankrupts. How long did it take Rome to move from bankruptcy to destruction? Centuries. How long did it take the British? Decades. How long will it be before the grasping insanity of George Bush destroys our currency, our future and our country? The long knives are out. It's only a matter of time. And there aren't any government bonds running beyond 10 years today.
