Capitalism will find its Berlin Wall if it doesn't change. There's no way out. In the past 16 years the system has been living by bubble after bubble after bubble. Abracadabra after abracadabra, Wayo after Wayo.

Milken was thrown in jail, then Nick Leeson, now is Enron and WCOM officers, it just changes the actors but the script playing on is the same.

“Unemployment is observed to be at historically high rates in almost all the advanced countries of the world. Yet economics and economists in these countries have been able to offer very little in the way of explanations which are either convincing or even satisfying to laymen about the origins or the cures of this phenomenon.” Simpson David, Love Jim, Walker Jim, 1987, The Challenge of New Technology, Brighton, Wheatsheaf Books Ltd.
Quoted in Elmat's book 1989.

Raymond, being a card-carrying capitalist, I can say you are wrong on all points.

I will win when all have reached Nirvana, not when they are suffering penury.

Greed is irrelevant to me. I benefit most by most benefiting.

It's true that engineering and science have participated in creating vast wealth. But they are necessary, but not sufficient aspects. A vast integrated process of civilization is what's done it.

Capitalism and swindling have no causal relationship though some swindlers call themselves capitalists, just as some swindlers call themselves politicians, priests, doctors and all sorts of nice-sounding occupations.

$ill Gates didn't try to hold back the internet, he tried to grab hold of it as It roared past him and he realized that was the big time.

Marijuana is just one of a horde of neurotoxins produced by plants to defend themselves against insects and animals which might try to feed on them. Plants [other than fruit and seed producers] don't love people. They try to poison them. People should avoid creating their pain rather than sucking or eating brain poisons to deaden the pain. Which is not to say that once experiencing pain one shouldn't deaden it as second best option.

Dumping Chinese imports? Get a grip Ray. Those people work for a small amount of money to try to improve their lives. They aren't dumping their products. They are selling them for what the market will bear. WalMart delivers the goods as cheaply as possible, stacking it high and selling cheap. No comment on the illegal immigrants - prosecuting criminals is not in opposition to capitalism.

We capitalists are heroic creators of wealth, risking all to gain a derisory profit; currently not even 1% on my hard-earned, thriftily-saved US$. You should praise my idealistic virtues.
